About susan mah
Susan Mah, MFA, LCSW, is a psychotherapist who brings a diverse background to her work as an artist. Clinician, photographer, and writer, Susan has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from American University and a master’s degree in social work from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She earned a scholarship to study photography at L’Ecole Parsons in Paris and received a master’s degree in fine art photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. In her artistic practice, Susan’s overarching goals are to bring her interests in social justice and psychology into the creative sphere to create content that is evocative and meaningful.
Susan was born and raised in the South and works as a psychotherapist specializing in trauma recovery. She also writes for the Oxford Eagle newspaper, in addition to working on her fine art projects. Susan’s photographic work has been exhibited in Oxford, MS; Taylor, MS; Water Valley, MS; Memphis, TN; Honolulu, HI; San Jose, CA; San Francisco, CA; Berkeley, CA; Aptos, CA; Venice, CA; Oakland, CA; and New York, NY. Susan’s books include Salvadore and This American Dystopia. Her most recent book, Fight Flight and Wanderlust, will be available for pre-sale from all major retailers in the fall of 2025.
